Horizon Club is a 24-hour drop-in club for individuals without homes, operated by the St. Louis Office for Developmental Disability Resources (DD Resources). It is also funded by the Housing and Urban Development through the St. Louis City Department of Human Services. The City of St. Louis Department of Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, both seek to end homelessness. Horizon Club offers membership and guest services to people without homes, especially those with disabilities. The Horizon Club features computer games, internet access, and satellite television as well as showers and lockers. This center is a safe place to spend time relaxing in a quiet recreation. They provide services that are not duplicated in the community, and refers people to other service agencies. While the Horizon Club is not a shelter nor does it have beds, a limited number of transitional housing sleeping rooms are available off site for qualified members. The Horizon Club serves as a center for information about available community services. Visiting agencies offer information on housing, transportation, employment, food, clothing, long-term case management, medical, dental, and other services. Members have a voice in how the Club operates. Membership meetings provide an opportunity to communicate concerns and ideas for improvement. Donations are welcomed! Items most needed include socks, underwear, travel size toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.), sewing kits, dental hygiene needs (toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, etc.), first aid supplies, and individual servings of prepackaged food. Their primary wish items are socks and underwear. Location: 202 N. 23rd Street St. Louis, MO 63103 Phone: (314)436-1733 |
