Each child in the city of St. Louis has a “Right to Learn!” The Educational Coach Program supports that right. This program is funded through the St. Louis Office for DD Resources and the St. Louis Regional Center.

The Educational Coach Program was implemented to assist St. Louis city parents and teachers in ensuring that children who have disabilities receive an appropriate education.

An Educational Coach serves as a representative for the individual who has a disability. To be eligible for services, an individual must have proof of the disability, be between the ages of 3 and 21, and must live in the city of St. Louis.

Functions of the Educational Coach:

-Provide information to the parent/guardian of a child who has a disability about their legal rights within the educational laws.

-Accompany, assist and support individuals who have disabilities and their families at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other school meetings to obtain the most suitable services and learning environment for the student under educational laws.

-Provide information to the public concerning the educational rights of individuals who have disabilities and potential violations of those rights.
