Festival of Nations |

Where: Tower Grove Park at Grand/Arsenal When: Saturday, August 28th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. & Sunday, August 29th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: Admissions is FREE however there is a fee for food/beverages. DD Resources will host an information booth at the Festival of Nations. Tote bags containing information on the services provided by DD Resources will be given away for FREE to everyone who stops by our booth! |

Tour de Unite |
|
Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments, and DASA (Disabled Athlete Sports Association) have teamed together for the Tour de Unite to raise awareness that cycling is for EVERYONE! This event benefits the programs and services provided by these three organizations and features a Tandem Celebrity Ride, a Community Ride and an "After Bash" with food, beverages, and entertainment. Tour de Unite will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010, in conjunction with the Gateway Cup. Their goal is to get 750 cyclists, of all ability levels, participate in the Tour de Unite and make the St. Louis Community aware that cycling is for EVERYONE! The City of St. Louis hosts Open Streets 2010 |

For select weekend days Sunday, September 19th Saturday, October 9th The City will open approximately five miles of City streets for cyclists, skaters, pedestrians, joggers, residents, and tourists to enjoy! Without the intrusion or distraction of automobile traffic, participants will be able to partake in various recreational activities, visit other neighborhoods, rediscover the City and experience the Great Rivers Greenway's bike routes. This event travels up Locust Street from Downtown to Lindell up to Forest Park. The emphasis of the event is on healthy, active living, but will also encourage the use of other, more environmentally-friendly modes of transportation. DD Resources will be hosting a table during the following dates: June 13th and October 9th. For additional information, you can check out the website below. |

Big Read Festival |

A free book festival that celebrates authors and promotes literacy. Packed with events and performances for adults and children alike, the Festival includes author readings, panel discussions, book signings, workshops, storytelling, hands-on activities, costume characters, and even a spelling bee. EXCITING NEWS!!! You can now register to volunteer online for many Special Olympics events at www.somo.org. Please follow the simple steps below to take advantage of this new convenient option. If you know someone who does not have internet access they may still register by calling the East Area Office at (314) 961-7755. Online Registration: 1.) Visit our website at www.somo.org 2.) Click on the “registration center” located on the right side of your screen. 3.) Choose an area of activities. 4.) You can choose an opportunity by title, description, and time slot. Check the appropriate box and scroll down to continue to the next step. 5.) The system will tell you that you must be registered or logged-in to sign up. If you have registered online before enter your e-mail address to the right, otherwise it will ask you for very basic information. Just complete the simple form and you are done. 6.) It will return you back to the listing of events with available online registration. |

SABE 2010 National Self Advocacy Conference |

Registration is now open for SABE KC 2010! Don't miss the chance to attend a historical event that is occurring here in Missouri! Don't miss the largest gathering of self advocates across the country that will occur right here in our own state as over 1,000 self advocates gather to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and past two decades of the self advocacy movement! SABE hosts a national conference every other year in a different state. Past conferences have been held in Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Rhode Island. This year, we are lucky enough to experience the national SABE conference in our very own state! |
